New Delhi, February 25: The Delhi police officials probing the entire JNU incident in which three students of university have been arrested on sedition charges has decided to reconstruct the entire incident that took place on February 9 when the student had organised an event to commemorate 2001 Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru.
The investigators are aiming to built a watertight case against five JNU students, including Kanhaiya Kumar, Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya who were arrested by Delhi police in sedition charges. It is alleged that the arrested youths most of them attached with the student union wings of JNU and Kumar a JNUSU (Jawaharlal Nehru University Student Union) president were present at the event organised by them where anti-India slogans were raised by a group.
The Delhi police officials are planning to reconstruct the whole event that took place on February 9. The cops want Kanhaiya Kumar to face Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya at the interrogation room to ascertain the exact role played by each of them. Khalid and Bhattacharya, had surrendered before the police late on Tuesday night after they were absconding for more than 10 days. On Sunday it was reported that five students wanted in the case were seen at the JNU campus.
The cops had found difference between the statements of the students accused in sedition charges. Kumar had reportedly informed police that Khalid and Bhattacharya had organised the event. Whereas Khalid during interrogation said that he was just a simple member and did not decide the pro-Afzal slogans. Two more female students are wanted by the JNU case.
Khalid, a PhD student is seen in the video but is not seen raising slogans. Police officials had also short-listed photographs of eight persons who were suspected to participate in the pro-Afzal event.
