JNU Row: Suresh Raina hails Kanhaiya Kumar’s explosive speech; calls him’true fighter’!

Indian cricketer Suresh Raina's post praising JNUSU President Kanhaiya Kumar's explosive speech, has got over 23,000 Likes and has been shared over 3,000 times.

March 5: Indian cricketer Suresh Raina on Saturday on Friday said joined a growing chorus of prominent media persons and public figures who are applauding JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar for his explosive speech, right after he was granted bail. Raina declared his admiration for Kumar’s words on his Facebook page on Friday, after he watched the speech. He said that Kumar’s speech, which took pot shots at the government as well as some media organisations, was a ‘beauty’.

Raina said in a post of Facebook, “#‎kanhaiya‬ on @ndtv right now… Beauty!!! Can just feel the honesty in every word..Respect him true fighter and honest man salute you.” Raina’s post has got over 23,000 Likes and has been shared over 3,000 times. Kumar had delivered a speech which was full of sarcasm and wit, as well as loaded with clever anecdotes. Kumar had taken pot shots at the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as well as the police, which failed to protect him. Kumar also clarified that he was not asking for freedom from India, but rather wanted freedom in India. Kumar’s speech set social media abuzz on Thursday night and all of Friday, as people gushed over the clever references, which were not just scathing in their attack, but which also aimed at dispelling all the misunderstandings around the supposed ‘anti-national’ character of his speeches. He stressed the importance of democracy and reiterated his and his colleagues’ respect for the Constitution and its laws. He created such a stir, that CPIM MP Sitaram Yechury announced that he will campaign for the party in the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections. However, Kumar has neither denied nor accepted the rumours.
