JNU students attacked in Patiala House Court when Kanhaiya Kumar was brought for hearing

JNU Student Union President Kanhaiya Kumar was produced in Patiala House Court by the Delhi Police who will demand an extension of his police custody.

New Delhi, Feb 15: Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students gathered in the premises of Patiala House Court were attacked by lawyers and activists who were present in the vicinity. Major scuffle was created ahead of the proceedings with JNU students clashing with those calling them anti-nationals. The scuffle kicked off when one of the students was slapped by a person who appeared to be a lawyer.

JNU Student Union President Kanhaiya Kumar was produced in Patiala House Court by the Delhi Police who will demand an extension of his police custody. Before entering the court, Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi said, “We have incriminating evidence proving that Kanhaiya Kumar was part for the procession which raised anti-India slogans and delivered an anti-national speech too.”

JNU students and Teachers’ Association have called an indefinite strike against the actions of the Ministry of Home Affairs. They have alleged the Centre of launching a vicious witch-hunt inside the campus and deliberately implicating students who stand to be their ideological opponents.

JNU Vice Chancellor M J Kumar has demanded the aggrieved students and teachers to call off their strike and restore normalcy in the institution.The report of the enquiry Committee formed by the Vice Chancellor would be released by February 25.
