New Delhi: As the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) clinched a clear victory in the Delhi Assembly Election 2020 putting behind the BJP with just 8 seats, BJP president JP Nadda on Tuesday said his party accepts the mandate given by the people of Delhi. Nadda went on to say that the BJP will play the role of a constructive opposition.
He also congratulated Arvind Kejriwal for the massive win in the national capital and hoped that the AAP government will work for the overall development of the national capital.
“Accepting this mandate, the BJP will play the role of constructive opposition and will prominently raise every issue related to the development of the state. With the belief that the Aam Aadmi Party government will develop Delhi,” Nadda said in a series of tweets.

The BJP chief also thanked his party workers for tirelessly working for the party during the election campaigning.
“The BJP respects the mandate given by the people of Delhi. All the workers worked tirelessly in this election and have been engaged in elections day and night. Heartfelt greetings and thanks to all the workers,” he added.

As per the latest trend from the Election Commission, the AAP is all set to match up to its 2015 performance with leading on 62 seats. The BJP, according to EC trends, is once again likely to be restricted to single digits as it is leading only 8 seats.
Prominent among those who are leading in their respective constituencies include Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who has taken a lead of 14,227 votes over BJP’s Sunil Kumar Yadav from New Delhi constituency.
Besides, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia has also taken a lead of over 2000 votes over BJP’s Ravinder Singh Negi from the Patparganj Assembly constituency and won the seat.
The counting of votes for 70 seats of the Delhi Assembly began amid tight security at 8 am today. Delhi went to polls in a single-phase on February 8.
