‘A Long Struggle, But Justice Finally Prevailed’, Say Nirbhaya’s Parents After Execution of All 4 Four Convicts

"Our daughter is no more and won't return.We started this fight after she left us, this struggle was for her but we will continue this fight in future for our daughters,  a visibly relieved Asha Devi told reporters.

New Delhi: ‘It was a long struggle, but justice finally prevailed’, said Asha Devi, Nirbhaya’s mother after the execution of all four 2012 Delhi gangrape convicts on Friday. The four rapists –Vinay Sharma, Akshay Thakur, Mukesh Singh and Pawan Gupta were executed at Delhi’s Tihar at 5:30 AM today, after the Supreme Court’s dismissed one of the death row convicts plea seeking stay on execution.

“Our daughter is no more and won’t return.We started this fight after she left us, this struggle was for her but we will continue this fight in future for our daughters,  a visibly relieved Asha Devi told reporters.

She also expressed her gratitude to the Indian judiciary and government and asserted that this day is dedicated to the daughters of the country.”I returned from the Supreme Court, hugged my daughter’s photograph and told her– Today, justice has been delivered”,stated the victim’s mother.

“I dedicate this day — March 20 to all the women in the country because ‘Nirbhaya got justice’, today,” she added.  On the other hand, Nirbhaya’s father stated that they will continue this struggle for other daughters in the country.

Meanwhile, people celebrated and distributed sweets outside Tihar jail where four 2012 Delhi gang-rape case convicts were hanged. Notably, the four convicts’ hanging today has brought an end to the seven year quest for justice by the parents of the 23-year-old paramedic student, who was brutally gangraped and murdered by six persons seven years ago in the national capital.
