New Delhi: Taking a leaf out of the poem that became famous during the ongoing citizenship row, BJP Karnataka tweeted a video of Muslim women displaying their voter identity cards on Saturday as Delhi is voting for the 70 Assembly seats. As the women — standing in a long queue in front of a polling booth evidently in a Muslim majority pocket in New Delhi, the tweet sarcastically said, Kaagaz nahi dikayenge. It also said, “Keep the documents safe, you will need to show them again during NPR exercise.”

What is contradictory is that Union ministers have repeatedly said that no documents will be required during the National Population Register. The process of updating the NPR will be held between April and September 2020, before the Census which is due to start from February 2021.
