New Delhi, May 31: In a statement released on Wednesday, the Ministry of External Affairs of India strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Kabul and extended support to the government of Afghanistan in its aid to the victims. It further questioned the motive behind the attack and said the continuing violence even during the holy and pious month of Ramzan reflects the diabolical nature of the perpetrators and its supporters. Earlier, the ministry said that the staff of Indian embassy in Kabul were safe. However, the assembly building was mildly damaged. Although no terrorist group has claimed the responsibility for the attack yet but the Taliban(Khorasan group) is suspected to be behind the attack.
The attack left 80 people killed and 325 injured as a massive truck bomb ripped through Kabul’s diplomatic quarters on Wednesday, just 50 metres away from the Indian Embassy. Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also condemned the attack. PM Modi said, “We strongly condemn the terrorist blast in Kabul. Our thoughts are with the families of the deceased and prayers with the injured. India stands with Afghanistan in fighting all types of terrorism. Forces supporting terrorism need to be defeated.”

India strongly deplores the heinous and reprehensible terrorist attack in Kabul today. We share the grief of all peace-loving Afghans and convey our sincerest condolences to the Government of Afghanistan and the families of victims of the mindless violence and wish speedy recovery to those injured.
The continuing violence even during the holy and pious month of Ramazan reflects the diabolical nature of the perpetrators and its supporters.
All staff members of the Embassy of India are safe in the explosion that took place in the close vicinity of the Embassy premises.
India is ready to render any assistance to the Government and the people of Afghanistan and all possible support to bring perpetrators of the attack to justice.
