In a statement issued by the conservative outfit, it clearly distanced itself away from the contentious statements. “Any disrespect to the Prophet is not appropriate. ABHM does not agree with Tiwari and it is his personal view. We respect all religions and their leaders. We are committed for Akhand Hindu Rashtra, Hindu, Hindi and Hindustan. We are a supporter of development of all communities,” said a press release issued by Munna Kumar Sharma, the national general secretary of ABHM. In justification, the supporters of Tiwari described it as a tit-for-tat reaction to state minority welfare minister Azam Khan who described all members of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as ‘homosexuals’.

Tiwari is currently lodged in jail with police pressing charges under section 153 (A), 153 (B) and 295 of the Indian Penal Code. Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has assured stern action against Tiwari, in his meeting with influential clerics of All India Muslim Personal Law Board.
