New Delhi: ‘All efforts are underway to identify people in contact with Kanika Kapoor’, said Uttar Pradesh Health Minister Jai Pratap Singh, who has quarantined himself at his home after attending a party where the Bollywood singer was present on March 14. The UP minister stated that he stayed at the gathering– a birthday party for an hour and so. “I along with my wife attended the party. Several high-profile families from Lucknow and some people from Delhi were also present there”, he told a news channel. Earlier on Friday, Kapoor admitted that she had signs of flu and tested positive for COVID-19. “For the past 4 days I have had signs of flu, I got myself tested and it came positive for Covid-19. My family and I are in complete quarantine now and following medical advice on how to move forward. I was scanned at the airport as per normal procedure 10 days ago when I came back home, the symptoms have developed only 4 days ago. At this stage I would like to urge you all to practice self isolation and get tested if you have the signs,” ,” said Kapoor in the post. When asked about Kapoor’s claim of not receiving medical help from the authorities, UP health minister asserted he is in the ‘process of identifying the loophole from where she could have crossed the airport without proper screening’. On the other hand, three BJP MLAs, including Uttar Pradesh BJP General Secretary Pankaj Singh, have gone into self-isolation as well, after meeting Jai Pratap Singh in Greater Noida yeterday.



Former Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje and her son Dushyant are also in self-isolation. “A few days ago I went to a dinner in Lucknow with Dushyant and his in-laws. Kanika Kapoor, who is found to be corona infected, was also involved in that dinner. I was present as a guest. As a precaution, I and Dushyant are in self-isolation and we are following all the necessary instructions”, Vasundhara Raje tweeted.

Meanwhile, Dushyant attended in meetings in Parliament after returning from Lucknow on March 15 and took part in Lok Sabha proceedings on March 16.  He also participated in the meeting of the Standing Committee on Transport Tourism and Culture. He came into contact with several MPs including Trinamool Congress leader Derek O’Brien. The TMC MP has also said that he will go into self-isolation.
