Lucknow, Oct 29: Uttar Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers alleged that police baton-charged them on Saturday while they were waiting to meet the state sports minister Chetan Chauhan. According to the BJP workers, policemen attacked them outside Landmark hotel where they had gathered to meet the Uttar Pradesh sports minister. The workers staged a protest demanding action against the officials who beat them up. Superintendent of Police (SP), Kanpur on Sunday said the police have launched a probe. He also said that CCTV footage are being analysed and if the use of force was unnecessary as claimed the BJP workers, necessary action will be taken against those responsible. “We are analysing the CCTV footage. If there was unnecessary use of force, we will take action,” he said while speaking to ANI.
