New Delhi, May 7: Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal faced the most stringent accusation in his political career so far, with sacked cabinet colleague Kapil Mishra accusing him of accepting Rs 2 crore in the form of bribe. Mishra said Kejriwal took bribe in form of cash from his close aide and state health minister Satyendra Jain. The allegations were dismissed by AAP, calling it baseless.

“I saw Kejriwal take Rs 2 crore from Satyender Jain. Jain told me he had struck a deal of Rs 50 crore for one of Kejriwal’s relatives. When I told Kejriwal about this he said, ‘This is false and you should have faith in me’. I was disillusioned after this. This act of corruption had to be brought before the public,” said Mishra, who sacked from the cabinet on Saturday.

Ajay Maken

Launching a scathing attack on AAP Convenor, Delhi Congress President Ajay Maken on Sunday said that the allegations of Kapil Mishra cannot be ignored as he is still a minister in Delhi cabinet. His statements bear capability of evidence and the Centre must initiate an enquiry through Central Bureau of Investigation and Anti-Corruption into the matter. Maken added Arvind Kejriwal should resign on moral grounds.

Yogendra Yadav

However, Yogendra Yadav sought an explanation from Kapil Mishra about his silence after the alleged exchange. Yadav said, “If someone says Arvind Kejriwal is authoritarian, or he is political opportunist, or greedy, arrogant, I will believe. But if someone says he takes bribes, then we may need evidence. Such serious evidences should not be thrown around and those who have made these allegations should be asked to produce evidence. I want to ask him what he was doing during all these years, if he knew about this.”

Kumar Vishwas

Defending his comrade in arms, Kumar Vishwas said, “I have worked with Arvind Kejriwal and I can’t even imagine Kejriwal being corrupt and taking money from anyone. Even his enemy will not believe in these allegations.

Anna Hazare

However, Arvind Kejriwal’s mentor Anna Hazare expressed his disappointment on the whole episode and said if allegations against Delhi CM are true, then he has shattered anti-corruption movement. He said, “Sad over the allegations levelled against Kejriwal. If true, then he has shattered the movement,”

Manoj Tiwari

Bharatiya Janta Party Delhi State Chief Manoj Tiwari too demanded the resignation of Delhi CM and said the allegations of Mishra are evidence of corruption.

Manish Sisodia

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia too defended Arvind Kejriwal and said the allegations bear no truth. People have been complaining about water issues in Delhi and Kapil Mishra was told that the cabinet will be reshuffled.

Ashish Khaitan

Former candidate of Aam Aadmi Party  said that the allegations  of exchange are baseless. He tweeted, “Arvind Kejriwal ko kharidne wala abhi tak is duniya me bana nahi hai.(No one has born who can buy Arvind Kejriwal’s integrity)

After meeting the Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, ousted minister Kapil Mishra said, “Satyendra Jain himself has accepted in front of me that he has made a deal of Rs. 50 crore for a relative of Arvind Kejriwal. I even had a discussion about this with Kejriwal, but he simply asked me to trust him. But after seeing the cash I cannot keep quiet. It doesn’t matter even if I have been removed from the post. I am not going to stay quite on this issue.”
