Kapil Mishra sits on hunger strike, claims to have received death threats

The rebel leader has demanded clarification on the foreign travel expenses of some senior party leaders.

New Delhi, May 10: Sacked Aam Aadmi Party minister Kapil Mishra on Wednesday sat on a hunger strike over alleged corruption in the party. He also claimed that he has been getting life threats but he will continue with his fight. The rebel leader has demanded clarification on the foreign travel expenses of some senior party leaders.

“I have been getting life threats, got a threat also from an international number. But I am not afraid of anything. I am sitting on a ‘Satyagraha’ till I get a clarification on details of international travel expenses of some senior AAP leaders,” Kapil Mishra said.

In an open letter to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Mishra asked the party chief to make public the financial details of international trips undertaken by Sanjay Singh, Ashish Khetan, Satyendra Jain, Raghav Chadha and Durgesh Pathak. “I will not eat anything till you make the details public. I will only have water,” Mishra wrote.

On Tuesday, Mishra submitted three complaints to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), charging Kejriwal and minister Satyendra Jain with corruption and other irregularities.

Mishra had said his complaints referred to the alleged exchange of Rs 2 crore between Jain and Kejriwal, a Rs 50-crore land deal allegedly arranged for the Chief Minister’s brother-in-law and about five AAP leaders’ use of party funds on foreign trips.

Mishra had also dared Kejriwal to fight elections against him from a seat of his choice. “Accept this challenge from me: If there’s a shred of morality left in you, resign from your seat, fight election against me either from Karawal Nagar or New Delhi seat,” Mishra had said.

The former minister, sacked by Kejriwal on Saturday, had on Monday submitted documents to the Anti-Corruption Bureau to back his allegations that Kejriwal had delayed a probe into a Rs 400-crore tanker scam in the city.
