New Delhi, May 4: Merely a week ahead of upcoming Karnataka Assembly Elections 2018, a Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from Jayanagar, BN Vijayakumar, passed away on Friday due to massive cardiac arrest. Reports claimed that the minister was on a door-to-door campaign in Pattabhiramanagar and was in a voter’s  residence when he collapsed.

Within 10 minutes, he was rushed to the Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology where an emergency angioplasty was performed. He was kept under close observation but failed to survive. Party sources said that his last rites will be performed on Friday evening.

The 60-year-old Kumar was a two time MLA from the constituency. He was seeking a third term from Jayanagar on BJP’s ticket.

Nortably, Karnataka will go to polls on May 12 and the results will be declared three days later on May 15.
