New Delhi, May 7: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday asked his Karnataka counterpart Siddaramaiah to take care of his state, ahead of the upcoming Karnataka Assembly Elections 2018. Addressing an election rally in Belagavi, Yogi Adityanath said, “Recently there was a thunderstorm in UP that affected many people. Our government provided relief within 24 hours. Did Siddaramaiah ever pay a visit to families of farmers who committed suicide in Karnataka?
Last week, on Thursday, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah took a dig at Yogi Adityanath over deaths due to dust storm and lightning in the latter’s state. In a tweet, Siddaramaiah not only expressed his condolence but also made a veiled attack on Adityanath. At least 64 people had lost their lives due to a storm in Uttar Pradesh. The Congress also attacked Yogi Adityanath for campaigning in poll-bound Karnataka even when people of his state were reeling under the impact of the severe dust storm. Following which, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adiyanath had cut short his trip to poll-bound Karnataka short due to criticism back home.

Earlier in the day, Congress President Rahul Gandhi also took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his foreign trips and election campaign. Rahul Gandhi had said that PM Modi is either on ‘speaker mode’ or ‘airplane mode’ but never adopts ‘work mode’.

In many rallies, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had accused ruling Siddaramaiah Government of not letting the benefits of ‘Fasal Bima Yojna’ reach the farmers.
Karnataka goes to polls on May 12 and 2,655 candidates, including 219 women, are in the poll fray. The results for Karnataka Assembly Elections 2018 will be declared on May 15.
As per the data provided by the Chief Electoral Office in Karnataka, the BJP will contest all 224 seats, while the Congress will contest 222 seats. The HD Devegowda-led Janata Dal-Secular will contest on 201 seats.
