Bengaluru, Nov 3: Amid the controversy surrounding beef politics in the nation, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader in Karnataka has sparked off a fresh row through his irresponsible intimidating remarks. In a blatant warning to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, influential BJP leader from Shivamogga, S N Chanabasappa has threatened to chop his head off if he chooses to eat beef.
Addressing a press conference a couple of days back, Siddaramaiah said that he would eat beef in the stat if he wants and nobody has the right to breach anyone’s personal freedom. Reacting to the Congress leader’s remarks, Chanabasappa said, “Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is behaving like a dictator. He has stated he would eat beef if he chooses to do so and nobody could stop him. Let him eat beef at Gopi Circle in Shivamogga. If he does so, he will be beheaded.” (ALSO READ: CPI MLA consumes beef during demo against Dadri lynching)
The local leader further added that his men would not tolerate anyone who chooses to indulge in anti-Hindu acts. “We won’t think twice about that. By making such a statement, the Congress leader has hurt the sentiments of Hindus. We have all grown up drinking cow’s milk,” Chanabasappa was quoted as saying by Deccan Chronicle. Chanabasappa has eralier served as the president of Shivamogga City Municipal Council.
At a time when the country is debating on escalating intolerance in the nation, a BJP leader is caught red-handed showing blatant intolerance and disregard for the rule of law.
