New Delhi, May 15: As Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) failed to reach the majority mark (112) in Karnataka Assembly Elections 2018, TV reports claimed that the HD Deve Gowda-led Janata Dal Secular (JDS) is ready to support Congress in the state. According to the reports both the parties are in talks to form coalition government in the state.

” JD(S) has also accepted Congress offer for chief ministerial post,” reports claimed.  Earlier in the day, ahead of the counting, Senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot had also said that the party is open to an alliance with JD(S). Meanwhile, the Congress is at the second place behind the BJP, with the JD(S) at the third spot. The Bharatiya Janata Party is currently leading on 106 seats while the Congress is at 73 and JD(S) 41.

Notably, the Congress which is desperate to retain power in the state suffered major blows  with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah trailing in both the constituencies he contested: Badami and Chamundeshwari.
