Bengaluru, August 19: Karnataka Public Works Department (PWD) minister HD Revanna and the elder brother of chief minister HD Kumaraswamy courted controversy after a video of him throwing biscuit packets at the Karnataka flood victims went viral on social media.
Revanna, had reportedly visited Ramanathapura village in Hassan district to meet the displaced people, assembled in a relief camp. However, after a brief interaction with them, he started throwing the relief material in the name of distribution. While some accepted the biscuit packets, many others refused to touch them.
Defending Revanna, JD(S) MLA Bandeppa Kashempur said that the minister did not mean to disrespect victims He was in a hurry to leave for Madikeri.
Earlier on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy regarding flood situation in parts of the southern state. “Extended all possible support in the rescue and relief operations. I pray for the safety and well-being of those in the flood affected areas,” the PM had tweeted. While some parts of Karnataka are facing drought like situation, some others are reeling under flood.
