Bengaluru: At least eight people were injured in an acid attack on a victory procession of Congress candidate Inayatullah Khan in Tumkur, news agency ANI reported on Monday. The injured people have been rushed to a nearby hospital. Congress candidate Inayatullah Khan won from ward no 16. The motive behind the attack is yet to be known. “Today when Congress candidate won the election, his supporters started taking out victory procession, someone within the crowd sprayed some liquid on the crowd, few people felt little allergic and were taken to hospital. Furthermore he added that police is investigating the case, so far nobody has been arrested.
While no party crossed the majority mark in Tumkur, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has emerged as the single largest party. Of the total 35 wards in Tumkur city, the BJP registered victory in 12, Congress -10 and JD(S) 10. The Municipal Corporation of Tumkur went to the polls on August 31, 2018 and the election results were declared today.
