The survivor was attacked by the assailants in Lingambudhi Palya, which falls on the outskirts of the city, as her boyfriend stopped the motorbike to relieve himself. A report in News18 claimed that she was dragged away from the main road and sexually assaulted. Her boyfriend was bludgeoned with a stone as he tried to stop them. A probe in connection with the case has been launched by Mysore district police. Eight special teams have been deployed by SP Amit Singh to nab the accused, the report claimed.

Meanwhile, the statement of the survivor has been recorded by the police. In her complaint, she revealed that the accused were under the influence of alcohol when they were attacked. She also added that the four fled the spot after committing the crime.
