Karunanidhi Health Updates: DMK Chief M Karunanidhi, who has been admitted to Kauvery Hospital since last week following age-related illness, will be discharged within ‘two to three days’, the party reportedly said on Saturday. DMK principal secretary Duraimurugan said that Kalaignar’s health condition has improved a lot in comparison to last week. Adding that his health parameters are improving, he said that the DMK chief has overcome a critical period. “He is able to listen to what we are saying. He will return home within two-three days,” Duraimurugan was quoted as saying in a media report. Since the news about the ill health of the DMK Chief broke out, a heavy crowd has remained gathered outside Kauvery Hospital praying for the well-being of their leader. Karunanidhi has been visited by various personalities from the political world and southern cinema industry. On Saturday, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu visited Karunanidhi at Kauvery Hospital. Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda visited the hospital and enquired about Karunanidhi’s health on Friday. Talking to reporters, he also wished the DMK chief a speed recovery and said his beloved friend should hit a century.
Besides, Makkal Needhi Maiam founder Kamal Hassan, South Indian Film Artistes Association president actor Vishal, actor Vineeth, Rajinikanth, Tamil Nadu CM E Palaniswami, Deputy CM O Panneerselvam, Congress President Rahul Gandhi and Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu have also visited the DMK chief at Kauvery Hospital in Chennai.
Earlier on Tuesday, a statement released by the hospital stated that Kalaignar’s stay will be extended by a few more days. “There has been a resolution of the condition which led to his hospital admission, an extended period of hospitalization will be necessary due to age-related overall decline in Karunanidhi’s general health, altered liver functions and haematological parameters. He continues to maintain his vital signs with active medical support,” Executive Director of Kauvery Hospital, Dr Aravindaran Selvaraj had said in a statement.
Karunanidhi had recently undergone a tracheotomy. He was admitted to the hospital on July 28 after his blood pressure dropped. On Sunday, July 29, his pulse rate dropped suddenly however, his vital signs normalised soon with the help of active medical support.
