Srinagar, December 8: An encounter broke out between security forces and militants in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Thursday morning. The ongoing gunfight has resulted in the the capture of two terrorists in  the Arwani region of Anantnag. The millitants managed to hide in a residential building, according to sources. The gunbattle  took place after the operation to flush out the terrorists was halted on Wednesday evening due to unfavourable conditions. Joint search operations started yesterday when Jammu and Kashmir police got information about the presence of militants in the Hussanpora Arwani in Kulgam district area. Police also got tipped off about the presence of Lashkar-e-Taiba‘s operational commander Abu Dujana in the area. Initial reports suggested the presence of Lashkar commanders being trapped in the crossfire. As a result of the encounter, mobile phone services have been temporarily suspended in parts of Anantnag district.  Reportedly, landline phones are functioning only in some parts of the region.
