New Delhi: Continuing the campaigning trend which apparently won the hearts of Delhi voters, the Aam Aadmi Party has said that the swearing-in ceremony will be Delhi-centric. No political leaders will be invited. However, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee already confirmed that she might attend the swearing-in as she would be flying to Delhi for a day or two.
“No chief minister or political leader from other states will be invited for the ceremony that is going to be specific to Delhi,” AAP’s Delhi unit convener Gopal Rai told PTI.
On February 16, Arvind Kejriwal will take an oath as the Chief Minister for the third consecutive time. Since, AAP has already expressed its aim to go national — starting with Bihar next — all eyes were on the guest list as that would hint at the kind of alliance the party is looking at outside Delhi.
But it seems, the party doesn’t want to mix Delhi issues with larger political issues as the strategy has already worked. Every time, AAP leaders, including Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, were asked to comment on citizenship row, Shaheen Bagh unrest, they sidestepped and requested to be interviewed only on Delhi issues.
AAP has invited “everyone in Delhi” to the ceremony, Manish Sisodia had said on Wednesday.
“Everyone in Delhi is invited to come and bless their son, their brother, Arvind Kejriwal and take an oath for a better Delhi,” he had said.
