New Delhi, October 29: Soon after two days of the chaos created by the Delhi Police following a complaint of serving beef in the Kerala House — the state’s representative house in capital, and writing an angry letter to the Home Ministry, the Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy wrote another latter to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday saying he needs more clarification on the way issue has been dealt and also showed his dissatisfaction.
Chandy also mentioned in the letter that he is not satisfied with the clarification on Delhi Police action and seek more clarification. Also, he made it clear in the second letter that the state government is not going to accept Delhi Police version on the incident. However, earlier in the day the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has said that he regrets for what happened and sought an apology from the Kerala Chief Minister O0mmen Chandy. Singh also said that he had talked with Delhi police commissioner B S Bassi on the issue and directed him to be careful on such sensitive issues.(ALSO READ: Beef ban: After beef party, its time for ‘Cow Milk Party’)
The Home Minister’s reactions were recorded by India Today news channel while Singh was travelling to Bihar for addressing an election rally. Speaking to the channel, he said, “I have advised Delhi Police Commissioner B S Bassi to take stringent action against Hindu Sena leader Vishnu Gupta and have asked Bassi and his team to be careful while acting out on such complaints in future.” The issue raised a tremendous spark of dissatisfaction by the Kerala Chief Minister over the action taken by Delhi police, which along with its team of 20 policemen raided the state canteen on Tuesday.
Offended with the action, Chandy immediately wrote an angry letter to the Home Ministry expressing his disapproval over the entry of policemen in the compound without seeking prior permission or even informing the state’s Resident Commissioner. Immediately, after the raid, the Kerala House had to remove the beef curry form their menu, but the recipe was back in the kitchen on Wednesday. Following the uproar, the Delhi police arrested Hindu Sena leader Vishnu Gupta, who had made a complaint about beef being served in the Kerala House canteen in New Delhi and had sparked a controversy. Th police with its team searched the kitchen and found that it was not cow’s meat but buffalo meat, popularly known as ‘Carabeef’. With the dish back on the table and the Home Minister showing his regret over the issue, we expect the heat will cool down in a matter of time.
