Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 27: A fresh video in Kerala ‘love jihad’ case has surfaced in which Akhila Ashokan or Hadiya can be seen pleading for help. “Get me out of here. Today or tomorrow, I am going to die,” the 24-year-old Hadiya can be seen saying in the video apparently recorded in August. “I am sure about this. My father is getting angry, I can make out. He pushes me, stamps at me,” she can be seen claiming further in the video. (ALSO READ – Kerala Love Jihad: SC Questions if HC Has Power to Annul Marriage)
The Kerala High Court had annulled her marriage to Shafin Jahan, 27, in May this year while ordering her to return to live with her parents in Kottayam. Since then, she has been living with her parents. The decision was based on the claim made by Hadiya’s father Ashokan KM that Jahan has links to terror-outfits and targeted Hadiya.
Meanwhile, her father has refuted the charges levelled against him by Hadiya. Speaking to NDTV, he said,”There is no validity to her claims. Nothing has happened to her so far.” The video was released by social activist Rahul Eashwar on Thursday. He had met the woman and her family in August and has released one video earlier too.
On the other hand, Hadiya’s husband has requested Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to intervene. In his petition, Shefin mentioned that Hadiya is going through severe human rights violation.
Hadiya’s husband has appealed against High Court’s verdict in the Supreme Court which initially roped in the anti-terror agency National Investigation Agency (NIA) to probe the circumstances of the marriage. The apex court, earlier this month, also questioned how the High Court could annul a marriage between two consenting adults.
