New Delhi, Dec 04: In a major breakthrough in Kerala love jihad case, an NIA probe has revealed that Hadiya’s husband Shafin Jahan was allegedly in touch with two key charge-sheeted accused in Islamic State (IS) Omar al-Hindi ISIS module case, Manseed and P Safvan, through a closed Facebook group which comprises activists of Popular Front of India (PFI)’s political arm SDPI.
As per the reports of Times of India, NIA believes that it was not the matrimonial site (waytonikah.com) that brought Hadiya and Shafin together but it was Manseed and his associates including Muneer (Shafin’s friend) who arrange their alliance.
An investigation in the case has also revealed that Shafin (Hadiya’s husband) who is an active worker of SDPI was in contact with Manseed and Safvan during his college days through Facebook group of SDPI activists called ‘Thanal’. The probe has also found that Manseed and Shafin were not only members of Facebook group ‘SDPI Keralam’ but also part of its administrative panel.
The accused Manseed and Safvan were taken into custody in October 2016 by NIA in Omar al-Hindi ISIS module case, which deals with the criminal conspiracy hatched by the members of IS-inspired group to target places in south India as well as high dignitaries including court judges, police officers and political leaders.

Hadiya, a homoeopathic doctor, had converted to Islam after her marriage with Shafin Jahan. Her parents alleged that she was duped into the marriage and converted to Islam under a conspiracy.
Earlier, after annulling her marriage, the Kerala High Court had sent her with her parents– KM Asokan and Ponamma. On November 25, she shouted at media personnel that she wanted to live with her husband. Hadiya’s husband had alleged that her parents were trying to reconvert her to Hinduism.
On November 27, Hadiya told the apex court that she wanted her husband to be her guardian if she was sent to her college to complete her education. The court, however, appointed the college dean to be her guardian. The apex court had also directed Tamil Nadu government to provide her security until she finished her medical internship.
