New Delhi, February 26: The elections in Meghalaya will be conducted on Tuesday, February 27. The results will be declared on March 3. In Meghalaya, there are 60 Assembly seats but voting will be held for only 59 seats. The polling for Williamnagar seat has been postponed after the murder of NCP leader Jonathane N Sangma.

Experts believe that in Meghalaya, this election could be a battle for existence for the Congress and a test for the BJP which is fighting hard to get Christian electorates. (Check out complete details on Meghalaya Assembly Elections)

Here are some details of Khliehriat, Amlarem, Mawhati, Nongpoh, Jirang Assembly seats:

Khliehriat Assembly Constituency: In Khliehriat assembly constituency, polling will be held tomorrow and there is a tough fight between the Congress, BJP and some independent candidates. In previous assembly elections, IND candidates Justine Dkhar had won from the Khliehriat constituency. Justine Dkhar (BJP), T S Diolinda Dkhar (Congress), First Bornson Nongtdu (IND), Kyrmen Shylla (UDP), Violet Lyngdoh (NPP) are some of the candidates contesting from Khliehriat assembly constituency.

Amlarem Assembly Constituency: In Amlarem Vidhan Sabha seat there is a tough fight between the Congress and the BJP. In Amlarem the polling will be held on Tuesday.

Mawhati Assembly Constituency: In Mawhati assembly constituency there is a three-way battle between the BJP, Congress and some independent candidates. Julias Kitbok Dorphang, is the sitting MLA of Mawhati. In Mawhati, five powerful candidates are in the fray: Banbuhaiing Makdoh (BJP), Charles Marngar (Congress), Evalyni Kharbani (IND), Tyngshainlang Lapang (NCP) and Donbok Khymdeit (UDP).

Nongpoh Assembly Constituency: In Nongpoh Vidhan sabha seat there is a tough fight between the Congress, IND and the BJP. In Nongpoh the polling will be held on Tuesday. Dr D.D.Lapang (Congress) is the sitting MLA of Nongpoh. Dedrict Binong (AAP), Marian Maring (BJP), Mayralborn Syiem (Congress), Manin Raja (IND), Rona Khymdeit (UDP) are some of the heavyweights contesting from Nongpoh.

Jirang Assembly Constituency: In Jirang assembly constituency there is a three-way battle between the BJP, Congress. The sitting MLA of Jirang assembly constituency is Lamboklang Mylliem (NESDP). In Jirang, there are five powerful candidates in the fray: Badhok Nongmalieh (BJP), Witness Day Sancley (Congress), Comfort Doloi (IND), Bity Jyrwa (NCP), Sosthenes Sohtun (NPP).
