Kolkata, Jul 18: A man was arrested from Patipukur in Kolkata for allegedly having sex with a stray dog. He has been charged with IPC sections 377 (carnal intercourse against the order of nature with any man, woman or animal).

The incident came to light around 9 PM, when three youths noticed the 34-year-old accused dragging the dog to his home inside a paper box manufacturing factory. As per reports, the man left the dog and ran away on seeing the youths approaching.

Police arrested the man later in the night on the complaint of the youths who took the dog to a veterinary hospital and got it treated.

The accused, identified as Kamlesh Mahto, is a daily labourer and works at a paper manufacturing unit. During police interrogation, he confessed to the crime and claimed to pulling street dogs to his room and have sex when his family was away.

Mahto’s wife and his three children were away to attend a marriage ceremony in Bihar, their hometown, when the crime was committed.

In a similar incident in 2015, an 18-year-old watchman of a housing society in Thane was arrested by police for allegedly having sex with a dog. Meanwhile in January, same year, a 75-year-old man was arrested for sexually abusing a dog in Jogeshwari. He was, however, let off after paying a fine.
