Kolkata, August 31: The two missing children of Ishrat Jahan who challenged the instant triple talaq were traced on Thursday by the Kolkata police. As per the cops, the father of the children had dispatched them to relative’s house in Bardhaman. Ishrat had earlier alleged that her two kids went missing in Kolkata and had accused her husband of kidnapping the two children.
After two of her four children were found nowhere, Ishrat had registered a complaint at the Golabari Police Station in the same regard. Since August 22, 31-year-old Ishrat has been facing social boycott in Kolkata after the Supreme Court pronounced the judgment. Triple Talaq was hammered down by the Apex court and in a 3-2 verdict, it declared this Islamic practice as unconstitutional.

Two days after the apex court judgment, Ishrat asked Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for protection saying she had faced condemnation and attacks from members of her community, especially her husband’s family. Her in-laws and neighbours called her a “gandi aurat” (bad woman) for challenging Islamic laws.
Ishrat was divorced over the phone by her husband from Dubai in April 2014. Also, Ishrat’s lawyer, Nazia Elahi Khan earlier said that the females in the society have started boycotting them and called them wives of Hindus.
