If the police is to be believed, an abortion racket operating nearby could be the reason behind the recovery of the skeletons of babies in such a huge number. However, the claim has not been ascertained yet.
A police official informed that while some of the bodies appeared to be in a fully-decomposed state, the others were semi-decomposed.
“We have no clue where from they (the bodies) have come. Going by circumstantial evidences, it seems that they were dumped there as the land was lying abandoned,” the officer said.
Sovan Chatterjee, City Mayor and Rajeev Kumar, Commissioner of Police had reached the spot on being informed about the matter, a report claimed.
