Kolkata: Protests erupted on Tuesday morning after a teacher allegedly raped a six-year-old girl in their school at Dhakuria in South Kolkata. Parents of the other students studying in the school protested in support of the victim. The protests of the parents turned violent, that the police had to use force to control them.

The sexual harassment allegedly took place on September 26. Owing to the bandh, only a few students could attend the school on that day. Taking advantage of the situation, the accused allegedly took the girl to a room without a CCTV camera and sexually harassed her.

According to an India Today’s report, the girl narrated the entire incident to her parents after going back home. A complaint was registered in this regard at the Lake police station and the accused has been arrested.

The bandh was called on September 26 to protest the killing of two students in a clash in North Dinajpur district. During the 12-hour bandh, a clash erupted between the supporters of BJP and Trinamool Congress party in West Midnapore, West Burdwan, South Dinajpur and North Dinajpur districts.
