Kolkata, December 1: The Kolkata police on Friday evening arrested two teachers of a prominent school, who had sexually assaulted a 4-year-old girl.

Both the physical trainers of the school – Abhishek Roy and Mafizuddin were earlier detained and now have been arrested by the Jadavpur police station.

On Thursday, the kindergarten student was allegedly molested inside the toilet during the school hours. During interrogation, both the teachers admitted to committing the crime.

Meanwhile, the principal of the school said that the school administration has initiated an internal probe.

“We have called for an internal investigation also. We can give assurance to all parents that security and safety of each and every child is our top priority,” Principal Sharmila Nath said to media.

The victim reportedly returned home with blood stains on her uniform and was crying inconsolably. Her mother noticed that the girl was bleeding from the genital area. The child was later rushed to a government hospital, where doctors also confirmed that the victim was sexually assaulted.

The child informed about the rape to her parents and also identified the physical education teacher from a photo. She has undergone several tests, results of which are expected soon.

Later in the day, the West Bengal Secondary Board (WBBSE) called for a high-level inquiry by forming a three-member committee to conduct a probe into the matter.
