Kolkata, May 30: A woman was allegedly burnt to death by her husband and in-laws in West Midnapore district of Bengal because her complexion was dark. The 23-year-old succumbed to the burn injuries at Midnapore Medical College and Hospital on Monday night. In his complaint, Shrabani’s father, Netai, has accused Saurabh and Sumitra of torturing her regularly because of her complexion.
He informed that the marriage was arranged and everything was going fine initially. However, after a few months, things changed and they her husband and in-laws started beating her up. He also accused them of demanding dowry to compensate for her complexion.
The victim’s family was informed by the neighbours. They have demanded stern action against her in-laws and husband.
