Mumbai, Sep 29: Two women Police personnel were suspended on Tuesday for allegedly assaulting a girl at Lalbaugcha Raja Ganesh puja pandal. The two women constable were caught on camera thrashing a girl outside Lalbaiug Ganesha on Monday. The action was taken after Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis condemned the incident saying,”This is a serious matter. The guilty won’t be spared.”
A 29-second long video went viral on social media in which three women Police personnel were seen thrashing a young girl. The victim was later identified as Nandini Goswami. According to Nandani, she along with her parents were entering the pandal through the VIP gate following other people after which cops beat her mercilessly. However the Mumbai Police claimed that the girl was hurling abuses at the women constables and had threatened them. After the incident came in light, Commissioner of Police Ahmad Javed ordered an inquiry into it and asked Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone IV) Ashok Dudhe to submit a report within 48 hours.
