Ranchi, May 11: Former Chief Minister of Bihar Lalu Prasad Yadav was granted a provisional bail for six weeks by the Jharkhand High Court on Friday. The provisional bail to Lalu Yadav was given on medical grounds. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief arrived in Patna on Thursday evening to attend his elder son’s marriage on May 12. Lalu Prasad is availing a three-day parole granted by Ranchi’s Birsa Munda Central Jail authorities, to allow him to attend the marriage. He is currently serving his jail term following conviction in the fodder scam cases. Lalu has been undergoing treatment at RIMS after he was brought back to Ranchi from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, on May 1. Lalu Prasad was admitted to RIMS on March 17 following complaints of uneasiness in the Birsa Munda Jail where he was serving a prison term since December 23, 2017, in connection with the fodder scam. He has been convicted in four fodder scam cases since 2013 — the latest being the Dumka treasury case in which a special CBI court sentenced him to 14 years in jail. Earlier this month, Lalu Prasad attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his sudden shifting from the AIIMS, shortly after Congress President Rahul Gandhi called on him.
