New Delhi: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad’s health has deteriorated and he can neither sit nor stand on his own, said party MLA Rekha Devi on Saturday. Notably Devi’s statement comes after she met him in Ranchi’s Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS). Speaking to reporters, Devi has demanded better treatment for the RJD chief. “Laluji’s health has deteriorated. He can neither sit down nor stand up. His blood sugar level has also increased. Lalu Yadav is currently admitted to the RIMS under the police custody. A couple of months ago, doctors attending the former Bihar CM at RIMS had mentioned that the latter is suffering from depression. RK Shrivastava, Director of the RIMS had claimed that depression was also mentioned in the medical discharge slip from AIIMS. Lalu Yadav, convicted in the fodder scam, was shifted to the 100-bed paying ward, Shrivastava had said. After spending a few months out of jail, the RJD supremo surrendered before a CBI court in Ranchi on August 30, upon the expiry of the provisional bail granted to him by the Jharkhand High Court for medical treatment.
The former Bihar chief minister had recently undergone a fistula operation at a Mumbai hospital. He is a heart patient with kidney ailments as well.
