Mumbai, May 30: After releasing the insulting ‘roast’ video of Lata Mangeshkar and Sachin Tendulkar and being slammed by MNS, All India Backchod (AIB) comedian Tanmay Bhat has now demanded money from Snapchat. The video which has gone viral on social media, had created a furore on Sunday, as activists of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) filed an complaint against the comedian for insulting cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar.
The Mumbai police officials urged by political parties, said that they will contact Google and YouTube to block the video. The call to take action against Bhat and block the video has come from Maharashtra’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and its ally Shiv Sena including MNS, which has filed a police complaint at Shivaji Nagar Police station, Mumbai.
The video, captioned “Sachin vs Lata Civil War”, was posted on Snapchat and Facebook four days ago. After the complaint was filed, Bhat tweeted, “Please pay me @Snapchat”. Read Also: (MNS to file FIR against AIB’s Tanmay Bhatt for his video mocking Lata Mangeshkar and Sachin Tendulkar!)
MNS has also threatened violence against any event that features Bhat in their show. 28-year-old Bhat is one of the co-founder of comedy group All India Backchod, one of the famous channels on YouTube. on Sunday Anjali Tendulkar wife of master blaster tweeted, “Disrespect is not cool neither it’s funny..Comedians should understand the difference between comedy and insult”.
The Mumbai police officials are in touch with the social media giants over the issue. The Cyber Cell is also trying to trace the IP address of the video and will urge YouTube and Facebook to block it.
By Sunday evening, the went viral on social media with more than 3.4 lakh views and widely shared. The video had divided social media on whether it is funny or offensive – or neither of the two. The AIB group is known for its irreverent comedy and was caught in a massive controversy in December 2014.
