June 13: Following allegations of a political conspiracy and foul play by former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda in Rajya Sabha elections, the state Congress has demanded a re-poll, reports said on Monday. State Congress members will reportedly petition the Election Commission to this end. Party sources said that Congress is also keeping the legal option open. This comes a day after votes of 14 Congress MLAs were cancelled, leading to the party-backed independent candidate RK Anand being defeated in the Friday polls. Congress big wigs have already asked the state party leadership to probe the matter and have prepare a report citing reasons why 12 votes of Congress lawmakers which went in the favour of Anand, went invalid, even as Hooda hinted on the involvement of the Election Commission. “Out of the 14 votes rejected, 12 were given to Independent candidate R K Anand. If the ink used was wrong, they should question the Returning Officer who provided our MLAs with the pen,” Hooda had said on Sunday. ALSO READ: Rajya Sabha polls: Bhupinder Singh Hooda demands through inquiry by Election Commission Also Read - Caught on Camera: 21-year-old Girl Shot Dead Outside College in Faridabad
