New Delhi, Sep 23: The tensions between India and Pakistan are running high after the Uri terror attack that took place on September 18. The militants attacked the Uri army base in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district and took lives of 18 jawans. All the four terrorists were also killed by India in its retaliatory action. After all this, Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was criticized for his Kashmir rant and glorifying terrorist Burhan Wani at the United Nation during his speech there.
The investigation by the National Investigation Agency in connection with the Uri incident is underway. As per reports by PTI, the NIA said that there is a possibility of 4 terrorists involved in the attack having sneaked in from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) through Haji Peer Pass on the intervening night of September 16 and 17 and stayed put at Sukhdar, overlooking the Brigade headquarters. In order to further find evidences in connection with the attack, the J&K Police has collected call and Internet data usage of all active cellphones and broadband connections in Uri town for the period of 24 hours before the attackers attacked the army headquarters there.
On Wednesday, the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) was reported undertaking a massive military exercise and this move of Pakistan has fuelled tensions in the country. As per reports, Pakistan also closed down its airspaces in the northern areas and its M1 and M2 motorways. To add to it, Dawn quoted the official as saying that the exercise is one of the largest undertakings by the PAF and requires months of advance planning, while some Pakistani media speculated that the measures were being taken in response to a potential threat of surgical strikes by India.
