New Delhi: Disgruntled Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Shatrughan Sinha’s entry into the Congress has been delayed after reported tussle within the Bihar Mahagathbandhan over seat sharing. Sinha was scheduled to join the grand old party at 11:30 AM. “Shatrughan Sinha will join Congress in New Delhi on March 28 at 11.30 am … He will be our candidate from Patna Sahib,” chairman for the state Congress election campaign committee Akhilesh Prasad Singh had said reporters.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi kickstarted BJP’s campaign for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections. He is addressing a rally in Meerut. Later in the day, he will visit Rudrapur in Uttarakhand and Jammu in Jammu and Kashmir. In 2014 Lok Sabha Elections as well, Modi had begun his election campaign as BJP’s PM candidate from Meerut by addressing a meeting in Shatabdi Nagar.
On the other hand, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi is expected to visit her mother and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi’s bastion Rae Bareli today. Her visit to Faizabad has been rescheduled for March 29. She was earlier scheduled to visit the temple town on March 27.
Besides, Samajwadi party may release its manifesto for Lok Sabha polls today. The SP has tied up with the Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party, Ajit Singh-led RLD and Nishad Party, Janwadi Party (Socialist) and the Rashtriya Samanta Dal for the forthcoming elections, scheduled to begin from April 11.
