Mumbai, Sept 29: There was a stampede at the Elphinstone (Prabhadevi) railway station’s foot over bridge on Friday morning in Mumbai. According to reports, three people died while more than 25 people were injured. Reports say the stampede happened after a rumour of a short circuit. Those injured have been taken to the KEM hospital nearby.

A similar scene was witnessed at the Currey Road railway station even as local trains continued to run as per schedule. People at Currey road stopped for shelter leading to a jam packed platform and a choked entry to the station.

This came after Mumbai witnessed unexpected heavy rains and thundershowers on Friday morning.  Mumbaikars woke up to thunderstorms and rains after almost a week long dry spell. With the rains continuing for over an hour in some areas, majorly in South Mumbai, traffic snarls were reported. Traffic jams were reported around Lower Parel, Eastern Freeway among other areas.
