New Delhi: Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has promised that if his AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) wins all seven seats, it will ensure that Delhi gets full statehood status within two years.
Addressing a public rally here on Thursday, Kejriwal also promised a pucca house to every citizen of the national capital if Delhi attained full statehood.
Kejriwal voiced his demand for full statehood on Twitter as well. While the BJP had claimed that AAP had copied from its manifesto to promise full statehood, Kejriwal responded by asking the saffron party to then fulfil its poll promise.
He also appealed to people to not vote for Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, but for the issue of full statehood.
A couple of days ago, he had also tweeted about how, as to how Narendra Modi, before becoming the Prime Minister, had demanded full statehood for Delhi. Reminding the PM of that demand, Kejriwal tweeted, “Delhi people want to remind him of his promise now.”
Earlier this week, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had announced a door-to-door campaign to tell people how the BJP had done ‘injustice’ to them on the issue.
“If the Aam Aadmi Party wins all seven seats in Delhi, we will ensure full statehood to Delhi within two years,” Kejriwal told people.
The ruling AAP has planned to corner the Opposition on the issue in the Budget session of the Delhi Assembly which starts from Friday.
