New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched a scathing attack on Congress while addressing a rally in Amethi, Lok Sabha constituency of Rahul Gandhi. “Some people while roaming around the world give ‘Made in Ujjain’, ‘Made in Jaipur’, Made in Jaisalmer’ speeches, but Modi walks the talk. We have made “Made in Amethi” a reality. (Kuch log duniya mein ghomte-ghoomte batate hain ‘Made in Ujjain’, ‘Made in Jaipur’, Made in Jaisalmer’…bhashan karte hain. Unke bhashan hi reh jate hain. Yeh Modi hai, ab ‘Made in Amethi’ AK-203 rifle hogi),” PM Modi said in Rahul’s citadel.
“One of the most advanced rifles in world AK-203 will be made in Amethi. It will be made by a joint-venture of India and Russia. I express my gratitude to my friend President Vladimir Putin, this venture was made possible in such a short time by his support. Our forces fighting the Naxals will use these rifles ‘Made in Amethi’,” PM Modi said, after inaugurating Indo-Russia Rifles Pvt Limited – a factory which will manufacture the latest series of AK assault rifles.
The Indo-Russia Rifles Pvt Ltd is a joint venture between India’s Ordnance factory and a Russian firm. It will produce the last series of Kalashnikov rifles in the Korwa Ordnance Factory. The Joint Venture is said to be an example of Make in India.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister also showered praise on Union textile minister Smriti Irani, who is expected to contest again against the Congress president in the forthcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2019. “We might have lost election here (Amethi) but we won your hearts. In last 5 years, Smriti ji has worked so hard for development of this region. She never made you feel whether you made her win or lose, she worked more than the person who won here,” PM Modi stated in a veiled reference to the Congress president.
He added,”Some people have the habit of forgetting the public after getting votes. They want to keep the poor in poverty so they can say ‘gareebi hatao’ generation after generation. We are giving strength to the poor to bring them out of poverty.”
Notably, this was PM Modi’s first visit to Amethi after coming to power in 2014. Last year, he had visited the neighbouring Rae Bareli constituency, represented in Lok Sabha by UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi.
