Patna: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi has attacked the Congress for inducting Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in the party as its general secretary who would also hold the charge of UP East. He said, “The decision has been taken to threaten the BSP-SP as they’ve sidelined the Congress. She’s entering politics as a representative of Robert Vadra. It’s rather good as it’ll bring Vadra’s matter into limelight.” (Also read: ‘People Will See Indira Gandhi in Her,’ Says Sena)
Modi also tweeted his views by saying the Congress was welcome to be happy over the induction of a woman with a “tainted life partner”. In a tweet, the senior BJP leader also made light of Priyanka’s resemblance with her grandmother and former prime minister Indira Gandhi.
“If a person could become as capable as someone merely by resembling them, we would have had many more Virat Kohlis and Amitabh Bachchans. Duplicates do not work in politics. Priyanka Gandhi may resemble Indira Gandhi, but there is a big difference,” he tweeted.
While speaking about Priyanka’s husband and businessman Robert Vadra, Modi also took the time to mention Indira Gandhi’s spouse Feroze Gandhi. He said Feroze Gandhi was a good orator “who had the courage to speak against his powerful father-in-law.”
“Priyanka’s businessman husband is facing probes. The Congress is most welcome to jubilate over the induction of a woman with a tainted life partner,” he said.
Modi said Priyanka’s appointment would bring the alleged corruption scandals against Vadra into “limelight”, which would eventually benefit the NDA.
“The BJP is not at all worried. Why should it be when her entry is only going to help us…the Congress has brought in Priyanka with a view to threaten the SP-BSP alliance,” he said.
