New Delhi: Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Monday found himself in the middle of yet another controversy by calling Jaish-e-Mohammed chief as Masood Azhar Ji.
Soon after, the BJP tweeted its distaste by expressing disbelief over how Rahul had shown respect for the chief of JeM, the terror outfit which took responsibility for last month’s terror attack thus,
Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad also tweeted, mentioning how senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh had referred to Osama Bin Laden as ‘Osama ji’ and terrorist Hafiz Saeed as ‘Hafiz Saeed Sahab’.
“Come on Rahul Gandhi Ji! Earlier it were the likes of Digvijay Ji who called Osama Ji and Hafiz Saeed Sahab. Now you are saying Masood Azhar Ji. What is happening to Congress Party?” Prasad tweeted.
While the Congress President faced flak for his speech, his party stood behind him. Party spokesperson R S Surjewala tweeted thus,
“2 questions to BJP & select Bhakt Media, who deliberately seek to twist the Masood’ sarcasm of Rahulji – 1) Did NSA Doval not escort & release terrorist Masood Azhar in Kandahar? 2) Did Modiji not invite Pak’s rogue ISI to investigate Pathankot terror attack?” he asked.
