New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday lauded 130 crore Indians for showing maturity during 21-day nationwide lockdown period. Addressing BJP Karyakartas (workers) on the occasion of Bharatiya Janata Party’s 40th foundation day, PM Modi asserted that the maturity shown by the people during lockdown, in a large country like India, is unprecedented. He emphasized that the war against COVID-19 is going to be long and ‘we have to emerge victorious’. “I state it with full responsibility that this is a long war against COVID-19. But we do not have to get tired or take a rest in this war. We have to emerge victorious. Furthermore, he added that India has worked rapidly with a holistic approach that is being appreciated by not only Indians but also World Health Organisation (WHO). “Our efforts have set an example before the world in tackling the virus. India is one of the countries which understood seriousness of this disease and waged a timely war against it. We took several decision and tried its best to implement them on ground”, PM Modi said referring to the video conference with SAARC leader and the G20 summit.
He asked state government to work together to fight the coronavirus pandemic. “India took one step after another and worked to ensure those measures reached the bottom. We have ensured that all governments work together in this, and made all important decisions in sync with experts”, Modi asserted.
Modi reiterated that social distancing and discipline are the only option to stay safe. Besides, he also asked people to cover their face while stepping out of their homes. “Always remember, whenever you go out your face should be covered, I say you should keep your face covered even at your homes. The mantra today for the whole world is social distancing and discipline”, he said.
