New Delhi: A day before US President Donald Trump‘s much-awaited maiden official visit to India, the President reiterated that he is looking forward to the visit. But what stood out in this tweet was the video accompanying, which was a morphed video of Baahubali with Trump’s face superimposed on the face of actor Prabhas, who essayed the role of Baahubali. The video even superimposes faces of Melania Trump, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Jasodaben etc. While the video may soon become an eyesore for many for all the superimpositions done, finally, it espouses the message of India-US unity. The two-day visit could redefine US-India trade relationships as in 2019 the US ended duty-free access for about $5.7 billion worth of Indian exports under its Generalised System of Preferences programme. India too retaliated with higher tariffs. If the simmering trade war has anything to with the war Bahubaali fought, the ending, as the morphed video shows, should be good for both India and the US. In reality, no trade deals may not be reached between India and the US during the present visit, US officials hinted as India’s Make-in-India and US’s America First come at a head-on collision, as far as trade interests are concerned.

Many experts see this visit as a PR overreach by Trump ahead of his 2020 election. A day ago, he praised Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, Bollywood’s gay romance, by retweeting activist Peter Tatchell.
