New Delhi: Low-cost carrier IndiGo will operate its first daily flight from Amritsar to Dubai from October. “The low-cost carrier now operates 13 daily flights between India and Dubai,” the airline said in a statement on Wednesday. “In addition, the airline will also operate flights between Kolkata-Kochi and Bengaluru-Pune. Both services will commence from October 2018,” the statement added.

It must be noted that a Mumbai-Ahmedabad IndiGo flight suffered a tyre burst while taking off from Mumbai airport today evening. The flight landed safely at Ahmedabad airport at 7:21 PM. A total of 185 passengers who were onboard are now safe. The aircraft has been parked at the Ahmedabad airport for a detailed inspection.

Following an inspection, a tyre decapping with full tyre pressure intact was observed. The aircraft has been towed to the parking bay. The wheel is being replaced and the aircraft will now be cleared for further flight. As per Indigo airline’s statement, there will be no impact on the operations.

An Airports Authority of India (AAI) official said, “IndiGo flight 6E361, from Mumbai to Ahmedabad, reported tyre burst while taking off from Mumbai airport Wednesday evening. The pilot had requested emergency landing at Ahmedabad which was immediately approved by Ahmedabad ATC.”
