Lucknow, July 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to attend the ground-breaking ceremony in Uttar Pradesh’s capital city Lucknow today and launch projects worth Rs. 60,000 crore. He will also receive feedback from Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) beneficiaries, via video link, from different cities of Uttar Pradesh and lay the foundation stone for various projects under the flagship missions. The third anniversary of three key government initiatives related to urban development — Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), Atal Mission for Rejuvenation of Urban Transformation (AMRUT) and the Smart Cities Mission will also take place.

At least 1500 industry leaders, investors, bankers, foreign delegates and a group of union ministers are likely to attend the event. The union ministers slated to attend the ‘ground breaking’ ceremony includes commerce and industry minister Suresh Prabhu, defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman and electronics and information technology minister Ravi Shankar Prasad. The projects to be started in this phase pertain to Reliance Industries, Infosys, World Trade Center, BNSL etc.

Others expected at the UP Investors Summit event include Mukesh Ambani, Gautam Adani, Nandan Nilekani, Kumar Mangalam Birla, Subhash Chandra, N Chandrasekaran, CII chairman Rakesh Bharti Mittal to name some.

Prime Minister Modi’s visit to UP is also being seen as an important strategy, as the ruling BJP prepares for the Lok Sabha 2019 elections. PM Modi earlier addressed a farmers rally in Shahjahanpur. Recently, he has also paid a visit to other cities in UP- Varanasi, Azamgarh, Mirzapur and Sant Kabir Nagar.
