The incident happened around 1.30 AM on Friday when Tiwari was heading home after the launch of iPhone XS and XS Max along with Sana Khan, his colleague. Khan said that cops fired at Tiwari when he didn’t stop his vehicle since it was deserted.
After they were fired at, Tiwari got scared and drove the SUV into an underpass pillar, further sustaining injuries, she said. She also alleged that the cops ran away after their vehicle got hit.
However, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had denied shooting was an encounter and assured that the probe will be handed over to CBI. Meanwhile, a SIT team has been constituted to investigate the incident.
On another side, police had said that the constable at Gomtinagar extension signalled Tiwari to stop for checking, “he tried to flee”.
