494 candidates were in the fray for 95 seats in Ludhiana municipal corporation. Incidents of minor violence were reported during polling in several wards. The AAP-LIP alliance was leading in 11 seats. This win means that Captain Amarinder Singh has not lost his support base in Punjab.

Ludhiana, Feb 27: The Congress Party seems to have repeated its recent municipal polls performance in Ludhiana Municipal Corporation election as it swept the polls, winning 62 out of 95 wards. The Bharatiya Janata Party-Shiromani Akali Dal alliance failed to prevent the Congress landslide win yet again as they could only win 21 wards. With this, the score line between Congress and BJP-SAD in Punjab has become 3-0 as this is third successive win for the Congress party in the state in less than a year. The Congress party had won Assembly polls and municipal corporation polls hands down in Punjab, under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh.
